Oldie but Goodie

Now that the holiday season is upon us I thought I would share a Christmas wreath I made 3 years ago. I made this and entered it in a contest over at Dollar Store Crafts. I didn't even have a blog at the time, but really wanted to enter my little wreath just for the fun of it. I was competing against like 15 others wreaths with serious bloggers and really didn't think I was going to go far. Little did I know that my $5 wreath was going to be involved in a pretty intense contest! You can read the insaneness here. To make a long story short I had more votes, but due to time of the contest not ending when it was supposed to I had "illegal" votes and didn't win:(
I thought it was so cool all the people that took the time to vote, even military wives from other bases loved my frugal little wreath. That felt really nice to have that type of support!

It's been 3 years and I still don't think I'll enter anything crazy like that again..ha!
Just thought I'd share this craft with you guys if you're on the look out for an easy Christmas craft.

  1. Wrap and hot glue wide ribbon(spool of red x-mas ribbon $1) all around a $1 wreath form
  2. Pop off the tops of poinsettias (just the flower part, $1 for a bushel) and hot glue all over wreath
  3. Fill in the gaps with ornaments(tube of all red ornaments $1) I found it easy to hot glue if you popped off the top of the ornament as well so it sits flush with the wreath.
  4. Wrap a piece of twine or string and hang.
  5. That's it! Enjoy:)
A pack of glue sticks was a buck too, but if you have them on hand already this would cost you less.
I remember getting the inspiration walking around Target and saw a similar one for like $40! I just loved the monochromatic theme, it looked very classy.

Hope you get inspired to start your holiday crafting!

*hugs*
