Desk Button Up

I have a little space in the house that's used as an office/play area.  I tried to make it happy and fun since this is where the girls and I are at most of the day. But man my desk was depressing and all the wires and junk for the computer were cluttered and ugly.

So until I find a real cute vintage desk to paint turquoise or something I thought just cover it with fabric! I bought these dish cloths from thrift store for 2 bucks. I really liked the trim and color combo. I wanna say I saw these exact ones at IKEA like last winter..hmm..not sure.

There were 4 of them so I just sewed 2 together to make 2 pairs of them, then I attached velcro to the cloths and to the desk to adhere them. I thought it was still missing something so I added some vintage red lace and ruffled lace flowers.

They still didn't look neat and tidy so I cut off the loops from on top of the dish cloths and sewed 3 of them to side so I could hook them on some buttons to keep it closed. I used some vintage buttons that I got from this post.

I really liked the way it looks like a button up shirt. Its fun and quirky.  So glad it hides all those cables and cords:)
